The Benoni Heliport was designed, constructed and is operated by the companies CEO, Tony Nelson-Esch. Tony Nelson-Esch's 35 years of engineering excellence has greatly contributed to the success of the Benoni Heliport.
The Heliport occupies an area of 20 acres of manicured grassed parklands and infrastructure designed with operational safety in mind. The facility can accommodate up to and including performance category 6 (27 000kg). Apart from the exceptionally large FATO, Benoni Heliport has 5 reinforced concrete park bays with adequate space for an additional 20 helicopters on grass pads. The Heliport also boasts a Passenger/Crew Hospitality Centre. The centre includes a Customer Service Counter, Refreshment Kiosk, Restrooms, Waiting Area, Swimming Pool, Meeting Area and Heliport Control.
Set in a country environment, the restaurant and pub provide simple but wholesome meals and refreshment six days a week.
Recreational activities are also encouraged by Benoni Heliport. Recently, preferred areas have been provided for the flying of radio controlled model helicopters. Henke Beyers, the current S.A Champion, is the owner of S.A Modelsport.
